This Is Not My Hat (Stop Motion)

I adapted a few pages from This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen, to make this stop motion film. The characters were created from rocks and cardboard, and it was a fun activity beachcombing for the rocks. We added extra details on the rocks and fins using oil pastels.

The set was a large piece of black board, and the seaweed was made by dying raw pasta green. My daughter did the voiceover for the narration, and made the splashing water sounds for the sound effects.

I think if I was going to make another book-inspired stop motion film, I would involve the kids more in the set construction, making the characters, and of course, the filming. This stop motion project was a test to determine if it could be made by children and how engaging the project would be.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions for books that would adapt well to a stop motion project.
